Getting the perfect finish for a spray-on bedliner is less of a hassle than you’d think. Especially when you use the latest 4-step spray-on TOFF techniques.
Of course, before getting going with these 4 steps, it’s important to know the benefits of getting a truck bedliner. As a truck owner, you may already know many benefits, such as protecting the truck bed from corrosion.
That said, using the spray-on TOFF coating is a non-slip solution to protecting the back of your pick-up from getting scuffed or scratched by whatever cargo you're throwing in and out of it. Plus, it prevents this cargo from sliding around in transit.
Luckily, at the Dealership Autoplex Collision Center, we use the latest technology on the market such as that spray-on TOFF technique we’ve been mentioning. This gives you the perfect finish for your truck bedliner.
And this is how we do it (there may be a song in there, somewhere):
1. The Preparing
Preparation is key. So, the first thing we do is remove hardware and accessories that we don’t want to be sprayed with truck bedliner.
Then, we mask other non-removable areas of the truck we don’t want the spray-on TOFF on. To do this, we’ll typically use automotive plastic and drape it over the vehicle before using fiber tape to secure it.
When we do use our trusted fiber tape, we’ll also use it to create clean lines in the truck bed. This way, the spray-on TOFF is going exactly where we want it to and no further!
The next part of the preparation step is scraping down the truck bed. This involves using a lot of sandpaper, a sander and various grits to get a fine abrasion surface. This ensures we get the proper adhesion of the truck bedliner, so it’ll last for longer and have that perfect finish we’re after.
Finally, it’s a case of blowing the truck bed (so there’s no dust or debris) and wiping it down with our specialty cleaner to remove any loose particles.
2. The Spraying
The next step is the fun step in the spray-on bedliner process. We get to spray the truck bed with the TOFF. Doing this means we’re creating the all-important air and water-tight seal.
Luckily there’s no need for an additional topcoat, either. This is because the first coat of spray-on TOFF provides top-end UV protection and stability to the truck bed. Plus, it’s designed to not chalk and grey overtime to maintain that perfect finish even after continued use.
Meaning, the TOFF bedliner saves you time and money in the long term, in a few different ways!
And, what's even better is, it dries almost instantly. Knowing this, we can reduce the overall time needed to install a protective bedliner on your truck. In fact, our technicians can finish this step in as little as 15 minutes.
The spray-on TOFF bedliner becomes solid in seconds, meaning we get to move onto steps 3 and 4 a lot quicker. So, there’s a chance you could be driving your wheels home the very same day.
3. The Detailing
The detailing stage of installing a perfect finish bedliner to your truck takes us back to that fiber tape we talked about earlier. After the spray, it’ll generally cover the tape. So, we get a satisfactory peel-off.
With that, the pre-embedded fiber trim is pulled through the liner material which yields a clean, straight edge. Then, all other plastic and masking is removed and so is any excess liner material.
The result is a factory-installed look that will protect your truck from corrosion, rust, scratches, scrapes and dents for years to come! Of course, being a spray, it adheres to every curve and contour of your vehicle and creates a non-skid surface that holds loads in place.
4. The Inspecting
While the satisfactory peel of step 3 might have sounded like a finishing move to installing the perfect truck bedliner, we adhere to high-level standards. This is because we are ASE-certified and so are our technicians.
With this, to enable the perfect finish of spray-on Toff, all hardware and accessories which were removed from the truck can now be reinstalled.
Plus, we do a final blow of the truck and the truck bedliner to remove any leftover debris.
Finally, the bedliner goes through our multi-point quality control inspection before we hand the keys back over to you. This is to ensure no detail has been overlooked and you have the perfect finish.
So, there you have it: our 4-step guide to achieving the perfect finish with a spray-on truck bedliner.
Another benefit to getting a spray-on bedliner over other types, is that it will fit your individual truck bed perfectly. This is because spraying the material straight onto your bed means no empty space between it and your truck.
